How to make a fishing rod

How to make your own fishing rod: DIY fishing rod
When it comes to making basic fishing rods, you have a few different ways. There are three basic ingredients I would recommend for making a stick. Some are easy to get your hands on while others are a bit difficult:
- Wood
- PVC
- Bamboo
I don’t know about all of you, but I don’t have pieces of bamboo, and I’m not sure where to buy them, so we’ll cover it last. There is something old and fun about making a stick fishing rod, so I suggest using this method in most cases.
In fact, you never know when you’re going to face a survival situation where you’ll need to make a fishing rod in the woods if you don’t want to go hungry. This information may come in handy someday, so let’s get to it!
How to make a fishing rod using PVC pipe
So far, the easiest way to start building fishing rods is to use PVC pipes. They are cheap, easy to work with, and easy to obtain.
With this DIY project, you will have one of the most reliable fishing rods to use for grading species.
Now we’re going to take things a step further and make more modern homemade fishing rods. Here’s what you’ll need:
Two PVC pipes
Two 2-3 inch slip caps
Drill and 3/32 bit
Medium size binder clips
Fishing rail of your choice
DIY Fishing Rod Instructions:
Step 1: Cut the PVC pipe.
Take two PVC pipes, and use a saw to cut them to your desired length. When cutting, remember that both pipes will be screwed together to make the entire length of your rod.
We like this DIY project because you can follow it to make a stick for kids because the length is customized.
Once you have trimmed your poles to the desired length, use sandpaper to remove any rough edges. You can also use it to get rid of marks and ink on the outside of pipes.
Step 2: Fit the connectors.
Next, take your two slip caps and their connectors and connect them.
Fortunately, you can find connectors at any hardware store, and they won’t cost you more than $ 5.
Attach connectors to both sides of PVC pipes so that you can assemble them into one pole.
Step 3: Prepare for the eyelet.
Before you start making your DIY islet, you must first prepare the PVC pipes. You will want to use your drill and 3/32 ″ bit to make five holes through 1/2 ″ pipe.
Depending on the length of the pipe, the number of holes may increase or decrease. Make sure the holes are evenly spaced.
Step 4: Assemble the eyelets.
Take your binder clips and tongs, and remove the metal wire from each clip.
DIY fans are bound to like this step, as it is the most creative in the whole project. Make sure you do not twist the wires when they are removed, as this can affect the quality of your eyelet.
After removing the metal, use the pliers to bend the left leg of the clip to the right.
You should be left with a closed-loop at the top of the clip, and the legs should point inwards, facing each other.
Next, clip the wire legs into the holes you drilled on the PVC pipe. After that, you can quickly tell that the closed-loop at the top of the clips turns into your fishing line eyelets.
Step 5: Attach the rails
It will be very difficult to build a fishing line, so we recommend investing in one.
You may want to use the same 3/32 ″ drill bit to make two holes in the side of the 3/4 ″ PVC pipe. Attach the rails to the screws to keep them in place.
When you start shopping for a fishing rod, make sure you choose something that is not too heavy. Otherwise, it could compromise the integrity of the piping, causing it to bend.
Step 6: Assemble the stick.
Now that you have all the materials attached to the 1/2% or 3/4% PVC pipes, you are ready to assemble your rod.
Using the threaded connectors we mentioned earlier, screw the two pipes together to make your fishing rod. You may also want to take your fishing line and spool it by running it through springs.
Making bamboo cane fishing rod
Before the invention of the fishing rod, ancient civilizations used bamboo poles to catch fish.
In China in 2000 BC, wooden bars were used to catch fish for survival. Today, you should be able to find most of the content at hardware stores.
Step 1:Trim and smooth it.
You will want to find a piece between 8-10 feet like a wooden stick. If you make a mistake it gives you some room for error because if it is too long you can always cut something.
When it comes to width, you don’t have to mess around too much, and an inch or two should do the trick. If it is too big, it will be difficult to catch fish with it and it will be difficult to take it with you. If you make a non-refundable mistake I would recommend having more than one piece of bamboo.
Once you have some pieces, you can start cutting them using a sharp knife. Remove any leaves or defects and sand the whole thing with coarse sandpaper. Measure it to its ideal length and cut the edges using a saw. Send them too.
Step 2: Let it dry.
Bamboo sticks have a lot of moisture, so depending on your method of obtaining them, you may have to take this step or not. Drying them ensures that the rod is strong and strong enough to catch your fish.
It is recommended that you tie it horizontally and hang the stick there for a few weeks. When it is completely dry, it will turn brown, and you can see how strong it is by swinging it in the air a few times. If it bends, let it dry for a long time, or try another piece.
Don’t try to speed up the process of drying in the sun as it will cause the bamboo to break and break.
